FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The head women’s volleyball coach at the University of Arkansas has stepped down.

The Fayetteville school’s Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long announced the resignation of Robert Pulliza on Wednesday.

Pulliza says in a statement that it was an honor to have been the coach at Arkansas and work with Razorback staff, coaches and players.

Long says a national search for a new head coach begins immediately. Associate head coach Carol Price-Torok will serve as interim head coach.

Arkansas ended the 2015 season with a 17-13 record and went 7-11 in the SEC.

In eight seasons with the Razorbacks, Pulliza had a record of 122-124, including a 67-87 record in SEC matches. The Razorbacks made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament while he was coach.
