LONE GROVE, Okla. (AP) - Motorists received a holiday surprise in the form of cash when they were pulled over by officers from the Lone Grove Police Department

The Daily Ardmoreite (http://bit.ly/1QvGpUp ) reports that drivers who were pulled over Tuesday, and deemed to be in need of cheer, were given a verbal warning from Lone Grove officers and handed a $100 bill.

Sgt. Brandon Godwin said they were looking for people who wanted to make the right choice and could use the money.

Police Chief Robert Oldham said officers had $7,000 to give out and that the money came from a citizen who chose not to be identified.

Authorities say the generous person approached Officer Brandon Stewart about the idea and initially offered the department $3,000 before increasing the donation.
