DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Officials say a stop light is coming to the Des Moines intersection where a pedestrian was killed in a crash earlier this week.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (http://bit.ly/1T3Mntu ) that a traffic study of the East 42nd and Hubbell Avenue intersection from 2009 through 2013 found a total of 43 collisions resulted in 30 injuries. That prompted the state Transportation Department to offer $500,000 to install a stop light there in 2017.

Some, like Lauren Simms who works at a store at the intersection, say that’s not soon enough and that the intersection with no crosswalk or light could see another tragedy before then.

Tuesday evening, 61-year-old James Pascasio was hit and killed while crossing a street there. No charges have been filed against the 19-year-old driver.
