KILLEEN, Texas (AP) - A Central Texas man faces charges following the death of his 2-year-old son who doctors say was severely malnourished and dehydrated.

Bell County jail records show 29-year-old George Ryan Murphy of Killeen was being held Friday on a charge of injury to a child with serious bodily injury.

Online jail records do not list an attorney to speak for Murphy, who was booked Thursday with bond set at $1 million.

Killeen police on Tuesday responded to a residential call about a child not breathing. Officers located the toddler, Colt Landon Murphy, in the living room. A police statement says the boy appeared malnourished.

The child was declared dead at the scene.

Killeen police said Friday that Colt’s mother is deceased and the boy lived with his father.
