MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Police and federal authorities in Madison have charged a city police officer with corruption.

Andrew Pullum, 31, of Verona was arrested without incident Friday after a sting operation one day earlier.

According to a criminal complaint, Pullum took almost $4,000 in cash from the trunk of a car after an undercover agent told him she was angry at her boyfriend for dealing drugs and that there might be money and cocaine in the car. The complaint says Pullum removed the money and later called for a drug-sniffing dog, but didn’t report the money.

The complaint says the sting was set up after a citizen tip in August that the officer might be planning a robbery with other people.

Pullum was represented at his first court appearance by federal defender Joe Bugni, who declined comment.
