GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A high-speed chase in Harrison County ended with one person dead and another injured.

Sheriff Melvin Brisolara said in a press release received by The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/1T5G74F) that 37-year-old Shantel Seay, of Saucier, was northbound on Wolf River Road Thursday when she failed to navigate a curve. The vehicle left the road, rolled over and ejected Seay and her passenger.

Brisolara says Seay died in the accident and her unidentified passenger is in critical condition. He says neither was wearing a seatbelt.

The sheriff says deputies had attempted a traffic stop after noticing the woman driving recklessly.

He says the chase began when Seay refused to pull over.

Brisolara says the chase ended when the SUV Seay was driving ran off the rod and flipped several times.
