PLAQUEMINE, La. (AP) - Police say a man wanted in the Thanksgiving Day fatal shooting in Plaquemine has been arrested in Baton Rouge.

Police Chief Kenny Payne said in a news release late Wednesday that 38-year-old Jerome Anderson Gray, of Plaquemine, was taken into custody without incident.

Payne says Gray was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail, and is to be transferred to the Plaquemine Police Department, where he’ll be booked on second-degree murder in the shooting death of Derick Askins.

He says Askins was found dead on Nov. 26 after suffering a gunshot wound to his ribs.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Gray.
