LISBON, Portugal (AP) - Two goals by Jonas and another by Renato Sanches gave Benfica a 3-0 win against Academica in the Portuguese league on Friday.

Jonas opened the scoring when he converted a penalty in the 35th minute after Pedro Trigueira had brought down Nico Gaitan in Academica’s area.

The Brazil striker repeated the feat in the 70th after Academica defender Richard Ofori of Ghana handled the ball in the area, sending goalkeeper Pedro Trigueira the wrong way.

Midfielder Sanches fired a powerful shot past Trigueira in the 85th.

It is Benfica’s fourth straight league win and the eighth time in a row that it beats next-to-bottom Academica.

Benfica is third in the standings on 21 points after 11 rounds, behind Sporting and league leader Porto.
