NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A Virginia Beach construction company is suing a former employee they say stole trade secrets and provided them to a competitor.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1O66Qdj ) reports Atlantic Marine Construction Company is suing Christopher McGrath and his new employer, arguing McGrath stole records after he was terminated.

The company says McGrath used a widely available computer program he secretly installed on one of the company’s computers. According to the lawsuit, McGrath accessed the computer network at least 16 times with the help of the program to download the company’s trade secrets.

The lawsuit also says Atlantic Marine and McGrath’s new employer, C&C; Contractors, compete for the same military contracts.

McGrath and an attorney for the company declined to comment to the newspaper.
