MALONE, N.Y. (AP) - A former upstate New York undersheriff is accused of ordering a deputy to follow county legislators and target them for drunken driving charges.

The Press-Republican of Plattsburgh reports (http://bit.ly/1jD0eKT ) that former Franklin County Undersheriff Patrick White was indicted Wednesday on three misdemeanor counts of official misconduct.

Investigators say he ordered a deputy to follow the legislators in 2013 and ignored another employee’s warning that the deputy had tried to recruit others to help with the targeted stops.

White couldn’t be reached for comment by the newspaper.
