TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - A man has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the stabbing death of a Key Peninsula woman.

The News Tribune reports (http://goo.gl/QKBWdR ) 32-year-old Duwayne Skillman entered not guilty pleas Thursday to first- and second-degree murder in the death of 69-year-old Lynn Cooper. An attorney wasn’t listed for Skillman in charging papers.

Pierce County authorities found Cooper dead in her home July 6 after her vehicle was abandoned on a local street.

Court records say Skillman told authorities he went to Cooper’s house, stabbed the woman to death and then burglarized the home.

Detectives reportedly had no leads until a relative turned in a knife found behind a home where Skillman had previously stayed.

Skillman was arrested Monday and is being held on $2 million bail.
