LEWISTON, Mich. (AP) - State conservation officers are asking for the public’s help in finding the person who poached an elk in southwestern Otsego County.

Lt. Jim Gorno of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources says the large bull elk’s carcass was found Nov. 16 west of Lewiston, between Shupac Lake Road and Big Creek Road.

Anyone with information about the poaching can make an anonymous report to the DNR Law Enforcement Division in Gaylord at 989-732-3541, ext. 5100, or to the 24-hour DNR Report All Poaching line at 800-292-7800.

Rewards often are offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of violators.
