CHICHESTER, N.H. (AP) - An American flag that towers over a recreational vehicle dealership has brought a New Hampshire town’s lighting ordinance into question.

The flag was put in place more than a month ago at Camping World in Chichester. U.S. Flag Code recommends it be illuminated in the dark, and the dealer wants to install two lights to do so. But the town’s zoning ordinance says businesses cannot project light upward and affect nearby properties.

The Concord Monitor reports (http://bit.ly/1HKLo0C ) neighbors debated the issue at a planning board meeting on Thursday. Supporters of the flag say the issue could be put up for a vote. Opponents say the flag would contribute to light pollution.

The dealer did not send a representative.

A voice mail left Friday with Camping World’s manager was not returned.
