DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting in downtown Des Moines that killed one man and injured another.

Des Moines police said Friday that 24-year-old Dresean Maurice Barber has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Edmanuel Perez. He also faces an attempted murder charge in the shooting injury of 23-year-old Andrew Hurley-Boyd, who was hospitalized.

Court records do not indicate whether Barber has an attorney.

The shooting happened early Sunday in the city’s popular Court Avenue district. Additional information has not been released.
