CLEVELAND (AP) - Health officials in Ohio’s most populous county say another seven people died from the flu in a week as an unusually bad flu season continues.

The Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County Board of Health says the seven deaths reported for the week ending Jan. 24 brings the county’s total to 38 this season. Of those deaths, 33 were county residents.

The Ohio Department of Health has said nearly 700 people across the state were hospitalized for the flu during the same week.

The state doesn’t report adult flu deaths but has recorded the deaths of five children.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said this season’s flu vaccine may not protect as well against the dominant flu strain.
