COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - A joint venture between the University of Missouri Health Care and Nueterra is planning a 10-bed, $40 million surgical center in south Columbia.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1ECL6Wm ) the proposed hospital would be a new campus for the Fulton Medical Center. The joint venture’s letter of intent says the hospital will be a single-story building, with all new construction and new equipment. It is expected to have 10 beds and two operating rooms, with no long-term beds. Employment numbers were not immediately released.

Nueterra and MU Health, which operates the 361-bed University Hospital, formed Fulton Medical Center in December and purchased the 37-bed Callaway Community Hospital.

Nueterra is a private organization specializing in joint ventures with health systems, hospitals and physicians.
