MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - Lauderdale County supervisors have approved a rail spur lease with CertainTeed, which is reopening a ceiling tile manufacturing plant in Meridian.

CertainTeed announced in June of 2013 it would reopen the plant.

Board of Supervisors attorney Lee Thaggard tells The Meridian Star (http://bit.ly/1x615mV ) the lease is for 10 years and will enable the company to continue plans for its restart of production.

Thaggard says the company is investing $24 million and creating 110 jobs.

CertainTeed stopped production in 2009, keeping only distribution and administrative personnel at its Meridian plant.

The Mississippi Development Authority put $1.1 million toward the project. Lauderdale County borrowed $700,000 for infrastructure and rail improvements. The city and county each will pay back $350,000 of the loan.

Company officials have given no date for reopening the plant.
