BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) - The Washington Transportation Department is suggesting the maximum daily rate could be $10 for drivers with a Good to Go pass who want to drive in the express lane after toll lanes are installed on Interstate 405 between Bellevue and Lynnwood.

Transportation officials expect the average toll will range from 75 cents to $4. And carpools with three or more people would be exempt from the toll, although they must have a Good to Go account and Flex Pass, which the state Transportation Department will offer this spring.

KING-TV reports the state recommendations include a total cost of $12 to use the new toll lanes if a driver lacks a Good to Go pass.

The first of four public hearings took place Tuesday in Bellevue. The state Transportation Commission is expected to make a final decision March 18.

The express toll lanes will open later this year on the Bellevue-Lynnwood stretch of I-405.
