TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A small plane landed safely at the Tupelo Regional Airport after reporting issues with its landing gear.

WTVA TV reports (http://bit.ly/1CYDo6U ) the single engine Cessna made a soft crash landing before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Tupelo Fire Chief Thomas Walker says the back landing gear came down but the front wheel did not.

He says the plane skidded on its nose for about 30 yards and stopped in the middle of the runway. There was no fire and the pilot was not hurt.

Walker said the pilot flew to Starkville and had returned to Tupelo when he noticed the landing gear problem.
