DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Police in Durham are looking for a suspect after shots were fired at a Durham police investigator.

According to a statement from police, the investigator was driving an unmarked police car on South Street shortly before noon when numerous shots were fired at his vehicle from a car on Bond Street, which is on the city’s north side near N.C. Central University. One bullet struck the officer’s car, but the officer was not injured.

The statement also said bullets damaged houses in the area.

Investigators believe the shots were fired from an older model gray sedan with tinted windows, and they add that the unmarked car was deliberately targeted.

Crimestoppers announced it is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
