WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - WesBanco Arena in Wheeling is scheduled to temporarily close this summer for renovation work.

City manager Robert Herron says new seats and handrails will be installed. The upgrades are the second phase of a $5.6 million renovation.

The city plans to open bids for the project on Feb. 20. The downtown arena is set to close from June 1 to Aug. 26.

The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register (http://bit.ly/1C0tz75 ) reports that Herron discussed the renovation on Tuesday during a City Council meeting.

The renovation’s first phase was installation of an $850,000 video board system that debuted Jan. 23. The final phase will be an overhaul of the arena’s facade.
