COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio House is adding two new legislative committees, including one that will focus on families and communities.

House Speaker Clifford Rosenberger and Minority Leader Fred Strahorn (STRAYE-horn) announced the new committee structure Monday, along with the Republican representatives who will chair the panels and their ranking Democratic counterparts.

Rosenberger’s office says the new Community and Family Advancement Committee will see legislation aimed at strengthening families and communities.

Rosenberger, a Clarksville Republican, says the committee will have a subpanel geared toward issues affecting minorities. It will be led by Democratic Rep. Kevin Boyce of Columbus.

The speaker also has divided the former Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee into two panels: one on agriculture and rural development, and the other on energy and natural resources.
