SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Sparks police have arrested a suspect in an armed carjacking and robbery.

Police say Matthew Carrol has been booked on several counts including grant theft auto, robbery with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a stolen handgun. His bail is set at $170,000.

Police say Carrol, who also goes by the name Matthew Madrid, allegedly confronted a couple as they were leaving their home on Vista de Lago Drive about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.

They told detectives he had a handgun in each hand when he ordered them to lie on the ground before he took a cellphone and keys and drove off.

Police tracked him down an hour later and chased him through several backyards before they found him hiding in a bush in front of a home on Schroeder Way.
