SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (AP) - Spotsylvania County authorities are investigating a house fire that killed two people and injured a third person.

Spotsylvania deputy fire chief Joseph Sposa tells media outlets that the fire occurred around 5 p.m. Monday. Firefighters found the victims on the second floor.

Sposa says two victims died as a result of the fire. The other victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of burn injuries.

Sposa says heavy smoke was coming from the home when firefighters arrived.

The victims haven’t been identified.
