HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Police in Hagerstown say they expect more charges to be brought against a homeless man following the death of another homeless man he’s accused of assaulting.

A judge ordered 34-old Marvin House held without bail on first- and second-degree assault charges Tuesday. The charges stem from injuries suffered by two men Saturday night on property owned by CSX Corp.

Sixty-three-year-old Jan Hammond died Sunday. Police say they found him unresponsive near the railroad tracks with face and head injuries. A second victim with similar injuries was found in a nearby wooded area.

Police say House told them he punched both men repeatedly after they made sexual remarks and advances toward his fiancé.

Police say they believe all three men are homeless.

House’s public defender didn’t immediately return a phone call.
