TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The University of Arizona hospital is poised to get a new name.

University of Arizona Medical Center-University Campus will become Banner-University Medical Center Tucson if the state Board of Regents soon gives expected approval to a merger agreement between Banner Health and the University of Arizona Health Network.

The hospital in Tucson is southern Arizona’s only top-level trauma center. It formerly was named University Medical Center.

Banner’s new University Medicine Division also would include a Tucson hospital formerly known as Kino Community Hospital and one in Phoenix now named Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.

Both of those also would get new names.
