DAVIS, W.Va. (AP) - At a quarter of a mile, the new sled run at Blackwater Falls State Park is being billed by West Virginia as the longest on the East Coast.

The sled run made its debut on Wednesday. West Virginia Commerce Secretary Keith Burdette helped christen the run by taking a sled down the mountain.

Once a sled-rider completes his or her run, a conveyor system whisks the rider and the sled back to the mountaintop.

New snowmaking equipment and lights mean the run is available on lighter snow days and into the night.

The sled run is open weekdays and weekends.
