KEMMERER, Wyo. (AP) - Wildlife officials say four mule deer does and fawns that were initially reported as being poached near Kemmerer over the Thanksgiving holiday were actually taken legally.

Chris Baird, a warden for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, says a hunter called the agency to report that he killed the deer legally.

The carcasses were found in the Wheat Creek area, and most of the meat was taken.

The hunter told investigators he finished processing the deer when he got back to Kemmerer.
