PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey man accused of shooting a 17-year-old girl has been charged in a second shooting.

The Record newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1HsWQeJ ) 25-year-old Luis Polanco was arraigned on a second attempted murder charge Tuesday.

The Paterson man was arrested in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, after the May 30 shooting that seriously wounded a girl in Paterson. Authorities say the teen was shot in the back while sitting in a car. Polanco pleaded not guilty.

Investigators say he shot at another person the same day. Prosecutors don’t know whether the charge relates to the same incident and haven’t released any other information on it.

Polanco’s attorney, Harley Breite, says he’s been given little information on the charges and questions why his client is behind bars.

He’s being held on $1 million bail.
