PROVO, Utah (AP) - Provo firefighters were able to extinguish a blaze on “Y” Mountain that was started by an errant Chinese lantern.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1DgXzue ) the Tuesday fire was blamed on a Chinese lantern that had been launched into the air and drifted onto the mountain’s slope near the “Y” trailhead.

The Provo Fire Department and U.S. Forest Service crews were able to put out the fire quickly at the roughly 2-acre site.

The department says it issued a ticket, which could include a $500 or higher fine, to those suspected to have caused the fire.
