GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) - The National Weather Service is reporting strong winds have swept across northwest Illinois, causing damage in the area.

The weather service reports it has received reports of damage late Thursday between Galesburg and Monmouth in Warren County, but not its extent. The area believed most impacted by the storm is Cameron, a town about 600 people located southwest of Galesburg. It hasn’t been determined if there are injuries.

Illinois Emergency Management Agency spokeswoman Patty Thompson says the agency hasn’t learned the extent of the damage in Warren County. However, it has been put on alert and is in position to provide assistance to the area if it is needed.
