BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois Symphony Orchestra plans two educational outreach programs in Bloomington and Springfield in the next week.

The orchestra’s principal cellist, Ruth Marshall, and a guest pianist will be at the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal on Friday afternoon. And the orchestra’s principal violist, Nicholas Jeffrey, will be at Family Service Center Camp Compass at Ridge Elementary School in Springfield on Tuesday.

Alastair Willis is the orchestra’s music director. The orchestra is in its 23rd season. It also has a Step-By-Step education program for elementary schools and provides guest artist residencies and ensemble performances at central Illinois schools, universities, community organizations and senior centers.
