MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - The football programs at Montana and Northern Iowa have announced a home-and-home series, with games in 2016 and 2018.

Montana will play at Northern Iowa on Sept. 10, 2016 and Northern Iowa will play the return game in September 2018. The Missoulian reports the deal carries a $50,000 guarantee for each visiting team to help cover travel costs.

The teams have met five times dating back to 1981, with Montana winning all five. The past three wins came in playoff games in Missoula, in 1994, 2001 and 2011.

Northern Iowa is ranked No. 10 in The Sports Network’s preseason rankings while Montana is ranked No. 13.

Montana opens fall camp under new coach Bob Stitt on Aug. 3.
