PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - More than 60 public-sector retirees in Rhode Island plan to file a joint appeal of a recently approved pension lawsuit settlement between the state and public employees.

WPRI-TV (http://bit.ly/1HztNCP ) reports that the retirees’ attorney, Tom Dickinson, confirmed Wednesday that the group of retired state workers and teachers want the state Supreme Court to review terms of the deal.

Some of the individuals who plan to appeal were part of the group who had filed a separate lawsuit last year because they were unhappy with the terms of the first proposed settlement.

Superior Court Judge Sarah Taft-Carter last week entered her final judgment approving the pension settlement.

A courts spokesman says that as of Wednesday morning only one notice of appeal has been filed against the settlement.
