BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A family-run diner in Burlington has reported a break-in over the weekend.

Owner Earl Handy of Handy’s Lunch tells WCAX-TV (https://bit.ly/1RF79j6) he doesn’t think anything was taken, but the damage still hits close to home. Two windows that were shattered were boarded up Sunday.

Handy said his family has been running the diner for 70 years.

Police said the diner’s security system sent an alarm off at around 4 a.m. Sunday.

They said burglaries such as this have been on the rise in the downtown area.
