ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - Flooding has caused damage at police department offices in the Detroit suburb of Allen Park.

Lt. Chris Egan tells WWJ-AM that offices were soaked following weekend flooding. Egan says the detective bureau is flooded and hallways are wet.

The station says the department already was in the process of moving to new offices nearby at the time of the flooding.

Heavy rain soaked parts of lower Michigan, causing flooding that closed part of one expressway for hours. The northbound lanes of the Southfield Freeway reopened Sunday in Dearborn, west of Detroit.

MLive.com reports strong winds Saturday night off of Lake Huron caused the Saginaw Bay to rise by about 5 feet. At the Saginaw Bay Yacht Club, docks were underwater and lines to boats were stretched tight.
