CLIVE, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say DNA evidence led investigators to the man now charged with assaults on Clive officers and other crimes before and during a wild chase in January.

A Clive police news release says 47-year-old Scott Mills, of New Virginia, is in custody, charged with burglary, two counts of assault on an officer and other crimes. Court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could be contacted to comment on Mills’ behalf.

The release says Mills had fled in a stolen truck on Jan. 20 when officers caught him trying to steal ATMs from the 7 Flags Events Center. Police say Mills rammed the truck into two police cruisers and sped off with other officers in pursuit. He crashed near New Virginia but escaped into some woods.
