GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police say officers have shot and critically injured a burglary suspect in central Kentucky.

Police said in a statement that troopers, along with officers from the Georgetown Police Department and deputies from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, were trying to find the male suspect on Sunday night after getting reports that he was camping along North Elkhorn Creek in Georgetown. The statement says when officers found him, he had a firearm. Police say after refusing to drop the handgun, he pointed it at officers, who fired and hit him.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. His name was not released.
