BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (AP) - Three men are behind bars after police say they raped a teenage girl in the woods near a Long Island golf course.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1HGdWls ) Jose Cornejo, Joel Escobar and Bryan Larios were arrested Friday and charged with sexual assault, robbery and rape.

Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Lawrence Opisso says Cornejo and Escobar are believed to be gang members.

Prosecutors say the men approached the girl near a Brentwood middle school on Friday. Investigators say they robbed and attacked her and a male who was with her. The suspects then took the girl to a golf course and allegedly raped her. She was found naked in the woods.

They’re being held without bail.

It’s unclear if they had attorneys who could comment on the charges.
