MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man will spend 20 years in prison for violent crimes, including robberies targeting cab drivers.

Acting Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas says 21-year-old Ezekiel Pittman of Roosevelt was sentenced Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty in April to robbery, assault and other charges.

The crimes took place in August 2013.

Two cabbies were injured during robberies in Roosevelt. One was pistol-whipped and the other was shot in the side.

The defendant also shot a third man on a Hempstead street after asking for change and marijuana. That victim required surgery to remove a bullet lodged near his spine.
