SPENCER, N.C. (AP) - The Rail Days Festival at the N.C. Transportation Museum will feature both the past, with the “Queen of Steam” locomotive, and the future, with exhibits about trains still in development.

The festival will be held Saturday at the museum in Spencer.

Experts from UNC-Charlotte will discuss trains for the future, which they say will consume less fuel and be both safer and more affordable.

The “Queen of Steam” is a restored Norfolk & Western locomotive.

The museum does charge admission, which includes the festival. Rides on the locomotive, the passenger train or caboose cost extra.
