RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Only two North Carolina metro areas with a population of more than 100,000 people have commute times close to the national average of 25.8 minutes. All of the metro areas are projected to see significant population growth in the next five years, however, which could increase commute times across the state.

A look at the 2015 population, the projected 2020 population and average commute times for the nine largest North Carolina metro areas, according to the U.S. Census Bureau:

CHARLOTTE-CONCORD-GASTONIA, N.C.-S.C.

2020 population: 2,558,420
