GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A coroner says he’ll rule next week whether a western Pennsylvania man fatally shot himself or was killed by state police during an armed standoff following a pharmacy robbery.

Westmoreland County Coroner Ken Bacha (BATCH’-ah) will announce his findings on Tuesday at the Westmoreland County Courthouse.

He convened a Feb. 19 inquest into the death of 46-year-old Scott Murphy on July 18, 2013.

Police shot at Murphy to end the standoff at his Latrobe home after he wounded a state trooper in the eye - a shot that could have been fatal had the trooper not been wearing a helmet and face shield.

Murphy’s girlfriend, 27-year-old Julian Upholster, was sentenced to 2½ to 5 years in prison for stealing two guns from another boyfriend and giving them to Murphy to use in the heist.
