MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey’s Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst has a new commander.

Col. Frederick Thaden replaced Col. James Hodges during a change of command ceremony on Thursday.

The base is home to 38,000 and the 87th Air Base Wing. It encompasses 42,000 acres.

Hodges is moving to Washington, where he’ll work with an assistant Air Force secretary.

Thaden last served at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, where he was director of manpower, personnel and services.
