LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon Humane Society spokeswoman says the owner of a friendly bearded dragon found sunning in a suburban Portland public golf course parking lot has turned up.

The Oregonian reports (http://is.gd/7fynYu ) that Humane Society investigator Ulli Neitch says the owner called Lake Oswego dispatchers and was making arrangements to retrieve the lizard that police had named Hector.

He was picked up by police on June 15. Neitch says he’s in beautiful physical condition.

Bearded dragons look fierce but are docile and become tame easily. They soon become accustomed to being handled and are calm around children. Their so-called “beards” are actually the expandable undersides of their throats, which puff up and turn black when threatened or startled.
