ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting near Biltmore Village.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports (http://avlne.ws/1BF0PnP ) authorities say the shooting, which involved a drug-suppression police unit, occurred Thursday in the parking lot of Ash Pantry Food Store.

Police say one person was hurt when an Asheville police officer fired into a vehicle. Police say the injury was not life-threatening and the person was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment.

Asheville Police Capt. Stony Gonce says officers involved in the operation were trying to apprehend a subject in a car. Multiple vehicles sat in the parking lot surrounding a gray Volkswagen, which appeared to have several bullet holes on the passenger side.

Asheville Police spokeswoman Christina Hallingse says two people were inside the vehicle the officer fired at.
