PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - Police in the eastern Alabama town of Phenix City are investigating the shooting death of a Georgia man.

Phenix City police say officers responded to a report of gunshots in a neighborhood Saturday night. They found the body of a man who had been shot in the chest in a yard on 17th Avenue South.

The Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus reports (http://bit.ly/1IDtBSV) that the dead man was identified as 22-year-old Edric Bernard Robinson of Columbus, Georgia.

Phenix City police Lt. George Staudinger said it appears that Robinson may have been shot several times. Staudinger said there were a lot of people in the area at the time, and that police are hoping that someone with information comes forward.
