GOFFSTOWN, N.H. (AP) - Electric utility companies across northern New England are working to restore power to thousands of customers.

In New Hampshire, Eversource says about 4,700 homes and businesses lost power Sunday morning during heavy rainstorms. By Sunday afternoon, the number was at about 2,500.

Central Maine Power was dealing with outages affecting nearly 4,300 customers, many in Cumberland, Lincoln and York counties. In Vermont, Green Mountain Power reported just under 2,200 outages Sunday afternoon. The largest number of affected customers was in Danby, with nearly 500 homes and businesses without power.
