BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - A northwest Ohio man is scheduled to go trial in September on a murder charge in the 1982 death of a Toledo woman.

Fifty-six-year-old Russell Adkins of Whitehouse was charged in February in the killing of 19-year-old Dana Rosendale. He’s already pleaded not guilty.

A Wood County judge in Bowling Green this past week rejected a request from the defense to dismiss the case because it was too old.

Rosendale was found on a road on Sept. 5, 1982, and later died at a hospital. She had reportedly been with Adkins in his car before she was found. The original cause of death was undetermined.

Investigators exhumed Rosendale’s body last year and ruled her death a homicide due to trauma to her head.
