NYACK, N.Y. (AP) - State police say all four northbound lanes of the Thruway in New York City’s northern suburbs have reopened after being shut down during the morning commute by a fiery crash.

Troopers say a truck hauling 5-gallon plastic bottles of water caught fire after hitting a disabled vehicle on Interstate 87 around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday between Exit 10 and Exit 11 in Nyack in Rockland County. Police say the crash occurred at the Franklin Street overpass just north of Exit 10.

All four lanes were closed after the crash. They were all reopened by 10 a.m.

Troopers say the truck driver suffered minor injuries. Other details haven’t been released by state police yet.

The crash caused major traffic backups throughout the morning rush hour.
